‘Canada comes first’: Doug Ford reacts after Alberta premier rejects joint response to Trump tariffs
Description
January 16, 2025
Though he said he respects Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said “Canada comes first” Thursday after Smith was the only premier not to sign a communique about Canada's response to tariff threats posed by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. The United Conservative Party (UCP) leader opted to prioritize Alberta’s oil and gas industry instead – which Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested could be blocked off to the U.S.
