Prime Minister Mark Carney said he would not seek a formal governing agreement with the NDP on Friday in his first post-election press conference in Ottawa. After securing a minority government in the 2025 federal election, many observers expect Carney will need to deal with the NDP in order to pass legislation in the house. After refuting the idea of a formal agreement that would keep his minority government in power, Carney moved on to discuss investments in Canada and said he will ensure that companies act in true partnership in maintaining employment in Canada otherwise, “there will be consequences.”
