Thousands of laid off Hudson’s Bay employees facing uncertainty without severance
Description
May 27, 2025
When a company in Canada goes bankrupt or insolvent, big creditors like banks or landlords get paid first in the court settlement process. Court documents show Hudson’s Bay employees will only receive accrued vacation pay from the company. They can apply to a federal government program to claim eligible wages, but the amount paid out is capped just under $8,900. Heidi Petracek reports.
